Speech and Language Assessments & Reports
We now have a choice of three speech and language assessments to offer you the support you need while being aware of the fees. Each is an individual assessment of your child's speech and language skills. The assessment is tailored based on your concerns, your child's age and needs. Assessments used may include standardised assessments, parent/teacher report and informal measures.
Full Speech and Language Assessment
For a fuller picture of your child’s speech and language development.
This comprehensive assessment uses standardised tools to assess a range of speech and language areas. You will receive a helpful summary report that you can share with others to support your child's development.
Ideal if you're seeking a full evaluation, or a detailed report for school or other professionals.
Targeted Assessments - Articulation or Early Language
Would you like an assessment that focuses on articulation/speech sounds only?
Would you like a session that combines assessment and gives early language strategies for your toddler?
This assessment focuses on understanding your child's skills in your area of concern and sharing how best we can support them. This assessment includes a helpful speech pathology summary report.
Perfect for articulation (any age), early intervention/toddlers, or when you want to focus on one specific area only.
Getting Started Session
Already had an assessment? Let’s get to know each other and begin therapy.
This session is for children who’ve recently been assessed by a speech pathologist. We’ll use this time to build rapport, understand your goals and get to know your child's strengths and needs.
Designed for children who have had a speech pathology assessment or screen in the past 3 months and want to start therapy
What to Expect after your Speech Pathology Assessment?
After your child’s speech pathology assessment, we will carefully analyse the results and consider everything we discussed and observed during the session. We will discuss this with you including your child’s strengths, any areas of difficulty, and our recommendations for next steps. Depending on your assessment choice, you may receive a written summary of the assessment or an assessment report feedback session.
We will discuss options for supporting your child's communication skills. Depending on your family's goals and needs this may include ways to support your child at home, public or private speech therapy services. If you would like private speech pathology services with The Speech Nest we will make a plan together including our goals and appointment frequency and availability.
Our goal is to make sure you feel informed, supported, and confident about the path ahead.
Understand your Report at a Feedback Session
After your assessment session, you will be offered a feedback session to discuss the report. We will discuss the results, your child's strengths and any areas that may be impacting their learning or communication. We can discuss any questions you have, your goals and ways to help your child.
Individual Speech Therapy
We offer individual therapy appointments for speech sounds and language. We have over 14 years clinical experience and use evidence based practice, your goals and family needs to tailor the therapy approaches and activities specifically for your child. Speech therapy appointments are available during school terms. We have breaks during school holidays.

Home Practice
Home Practice is an important part of your child's speech therapy plan. We are here to help with support, advice and resources to guide you in understanding and facilitating your child's speech and language development at home.

Parent Information & Support
We believe parents play a vital role in your child's communication journey. We’re here to support you every step of the way. We can provide practical information, tailored strategies, and ongoing guidance to help you feel confident and informed. Whether you have questions about speech and language development, therapy goals, or how to support your child at home, we're here to help.
Progress Reviews
Regular speech and language reviews are important both for clients working at home and those attending regular speech therapy sessions. Weekly speech therapy clients have a review each term. This is important to check our progress, make any changes to our goals or therapy plan and determine if individual therapy is still needed.

Support for Speech and Language Areas
Speech Sounds / Speaking Clearly
Children who are having difficulty being understood by their family members, peers or others may start feeling frustrated. Speech therapy can support children with a range of speech sound difficulties including:
-
articulation
-
a lisp / interdental /s/ or a lateral /s/
-
unclear speech
-
clarity
-
mispronunciations
-
phononlogical delays or disorders
-
speech delays, speech sound disorders
-
childhood apraxia of speech (CAS) - this was previously called Childhood Verbal Dyspraxia
Assessment and treatment of children's speech sound disorders and particularly motor planning difficulties is a special area of interest at The Speech Nest. I am dedicated to continually upskilling my knowledge in assessment and therapy for speech sound disorders in children.
Language Development - Preschool to Early Primary
When we think about language development, we consider what our children understand (receptive language/comprehension) as well as what they say (expressive language). Speech Pathologists can assess and support children's development in:
-
answering a wide range of questions from simple questions to those requiring problem solving skills.
-
understanding concepts and following instructions
-
vocabulary - children need to understand and use a wide range of words to express themselves clearly
-
sentence length and sentence structure (grammar)
-
developing storytelling using Story Champs (an evidence based narrative program) - Children rely on their storytelling skills in their everyday interactions at home and in the classroom. They use these skills to share what has happened during the day or a recent experience in the playground and to share memories of recent outings or holidays. Well developed storytelling skills help children to give instructions to complete a task or share the rules of a game with peers. Narrative and storytelling skills are important for social connections and academic success. They help children to share their experiences and advocate for themselves. We use Story Champs, an evidence based program, to support your child's language development.
At The Speech Nest, we focus on supporting the language development for toddlers, preschoolers and the early primary schools years. We believe in working together to help children prepare for schooling transitions, to communicate their needs and help make the most of their classroom experience.

Executive Functioning Skill Development
At The Speech Nest, we understand how important it is to support your child’s overall development—not just their speech, language or literacy skills, but also the thinking skills that help them learn and thrive. That’s why we take a special interest in supporting executive functioning skills—things like attention, planning, organisation, and memory. These skills play a big role in how children manage tasks, follow instructions, and stay engaged in learning.
Whether we’re helping your child with their speech sounds, building their language skills, or supporting their reading and writing, we gently weave executive functioning strategies into all of our sessions. This means your child is not only developing their communication skills, but also building confidence, independence, and tools for everyday success.
