We offer speech pathology appointments at our home-based clinic located in Cardup. As a new private speech pathology clinic, we currently have speech pathology assessment and therapy appointments available.

Starting Speech Pathology at The Speech Nest

Get in touch by phone or email to share your concerns—we’ll discuss how we can help and appointment availability. If we are unable to help, we will suggest some other speech pathologists that may be able to support you.

Choose the Speech and Language Assessment that suits you best - we have different assessment options available for you. These vary depending on the speech and langauge areas you would like assessed, your concerns and your child's needs. If you already have an assessment report completed and would like to get started with therapy please let us know - we may not need to do a re-assessment.

Book your Appointment - we currently offer speech pathology appointments during school hours. Once you have made your appointment, we will send you some paperwork to complete to help us prepare for your speech pathology assessment.

What happens after our speech and language assessment?

This depends on the type of assessment you requested. After a full speech and language assessment, we will analyse the results and then offer you a feedback session to discuss your speech pathology assessment results and the report. You can then decide the next step. You may want ideas for home, a report for an educational placement, to discuss different speech pathology services available or to book therapy at The Speech Nest. Our goal is for you to be informed and supported to make the decision that fits best for your family.

Speech Therapy Appointments

Speech and Language Assessments

We offer different speech and language assessments depending on your concerns, your child's age and assessment needs.

Speech and language assessments are generally 60 minutes long.
Additional speech pathology assessment sessions may be needed for older children or those needing assessments for an application (e.g. a LDC application).

Our speech and language assessments may include parental report, standardised measures, and/or informal assessments depending upon your concerns, your child's age and needs.

After your assessment, you are welcome to attend a 15 minute feedback session to discuss the assessment results and your goals.

Individual Speech Therapy Appointments

After your speech and language assessment, we will discuss the assessment results, your goals and make a plan for your family.

Individual speech therapy sessions are available. You may choose 30, 45 or 60 minute therapy appointments. Your fees include:

*Planning and preparation for your session including therapy goals and activities specific for your child.

*Your individual therapy session tailoring evidence based practice to your child's needs and interests

*Preparation, discussion, demonstration and provision of home practice activities or strategies

We offer therapy sessions in blocks of therapy. This allows us to review progress and your child's current needs.

Therapy sessions are generally weekly however other schedules may be organised that work for your family.

Payments

The Speech Nest is a private paying clinic with fees paid in full to the clinic. For your convenience, we offer bank transfer and credit/debit card payments.

Please refer to our policies page for information on our cancellation policies and charges. If you need to cancel please let us know the day before your appointment. If you need to cancel on the day or forget your appointment, you can reschedule once without any additional charges. If you cancel on the day or miss your appointment a second time, a fee of $50 is charged.

Rebates and Funding

Private Health Insurance

Speech Pathology sessions may be rebated through your ancillary cover. Please check with your health fund regarding your policy.

Medicare

I do have a Medicare provider number and would love to support your family and your GP under the GP Chronic Condition Management Plan. This program was previously called the Chronic Disease Management Plan and the Enhanced Primary Care Plan. This plan needs to be initiated by your GP and must be in place prior to your appointment. If you have a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan, you are able to request a rebate from Medicare after your speech therapy appointment.

NDIS

I am not a registered provider but can support plan managed clients. I can also support self managed clients who are happy to pay on the day and then request a rebate through the NDIS.
